Batik Starfish Table Top. The batik work in this starfish is beautiful in its simplicity, with its calming blues surrounding a center sun of electric yellow. Batik is the art of decorating cloth or wood using wax and dye. This art form has been practiced by artisans for centuries. Selected areas of the wood were blocked out by brushing or drawing hot wax over them. The wood is then dyed. The parts covered in wax resist the dye and the original color remains. This process of waxing and dying is then repeated, creating an elaborate and colorful design. 9.5X10.5X4. This design is available in a candle holder as well.
